Candidates need experience in the field of background investigations, either through private sector or law enforcement, and must be highly organized, self-directed, results and deadline oriented, have strong communications skills and have flexibility with their work hours. 

This is a part-time position which offers flexible scheduling, ability to work remotely, and the opportunity to grow with our expanding organization. 

In this role you will:
  • Conduct comprehensive background checks on potential employees, including criminal and civil history, employment verification, education verification, and reference checks, in accordance with company policies, applicable laws, regulations, and procedural requirements
  • Obtain, research, investigate, and review data from various sources and information systems
  • Conduct Open Source and social media investigations, via search engines and various social media platforms 
  • Analyze gathered information to identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, or red flags that may impact clients.
  • Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and recommendations for management review.
  • Provide recommendations and assistance to managers and partners on the research and results to ensure consistency and collaboration 
  • Utilize various databases and resources to gather relevant information, ensuring accuracy and completeness of findings, including (familiarity is strongly preferred):
    • TLO
    • BRB
    • Pacer
    • Patch
    • UJS (Unified Judicial System)
    • Sexual Offender database
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant laws and regulations pertaining to background checks and employment screening.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical standards throughout the investigation process.
Qualifications for the role include:
  • Previous experience in background investigations - private sector background investigations experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, human resources, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to draw conclusions based on available information.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to conduct professional interviews and prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using computer databases, internet search engines, and other research tools.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong ethical standards and a commitment to conducting investigations with integrity and impartiality.
