Position: General Manager

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible to lead the safe operation of the facility in accordance with the company’s overall safety goals and desires.
  2. Set financial goals and metrics and maximize financial returns on capital resources and human resources through well planned operations and long-term cost controls.
  3. Monitor organizational structure, equipment and facility improvements that may need to be adjusted for ensuring ability to meet current company goals
  4. Plan, Direct and coordinate all aspects of the Norfolk facilities
  5. Review and approve all contracts, in conjunction with Vice President, and ensure contracts are well managed to maximize company profitability and customer satisfaction.
  6. Ensure all operations are performed in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  7. Ensure that vendors and suppliers meet the needs of the company in performance and financial requirements.
  8. Screen, interview, hire and train manager and supervisors reporting to the General Manager
  9. Provide the required motivation, discipline, evaluations and feedback required for direct reports as well as their subordinates.
  10. Provide leadership and motivation to develop a team environment and maximize efforts of team behaviors.
  11. Can understand and execute business development within the area to include existing and new customers

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Marine or Naval Engineering or 10 years’ experience in senior management position in Marine or Naval ship repair.
  2. Preferable MBA and PMP
  3. Eligible for security clearance
  4. Knowledge of FAR, DFAR and Government contract practices

SPECIAL SKILLS

  1. Excellent communication skills
  2. Planning, negotiating and organizing skills
  3. An understanding of the Federal Markets to include USN, USCG, USNS and MARAD work
  4. An understanding of NAVSEA ship repair requirements
